Dear Madam/Sir,

The Representation in Italy of the European Commission is organising, in collaboration with the Municipality of Naples and the Region Campania and under the High Patronage of the President of the Italian Republic the Forum “Fight against Poverty in Europe and the World: towards the European Year 2010 for combating Poverty and Social Exclusion”, which will be held in Naples on November 27^th and 28^th.

The event will represent an important occasion of dialogue between representatives of civil society, European institutions and Governments, local authorities and academia. It will be a fundamental step in view of the European Year 2010, declared European Year for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion.

I am sure that your experience and the history of the organisation you represent can bring an important added value to such an event. In case you are interested, please fill in the enclosed form and send it back to ceicc@comune.napoli.it before Thursday 5th November 2009 indicating in the subject “Forum Poverty”. Please note that the registration can be considered final only once you receive a letter of confirmation, which will include also practical information on travelling and accommodation.

Please note that more than 300 organisations are invited and the organisers will cover travel and accommodation costs only for the first 150 registered participants. The registrations sent after this date will not be accepted.

I would like to share with you outcomes of the EU project ALL.4.EU. CEE Citizens Network is one of the partners of this project and our role is to disseminate the project results.  Attached is the first report of the project. You can find there a lot of interesting ways how to motivate people to become an active citizens and Europeans as well as the impact of different  methods on the local level. I would like to encourage you to share this  report with your colleagues, other NGOs and public institutions.

This is the second draft of the Code of Good Practice on Civil Participation.

The Council of Europe related INGO (Conference of International NGOs) started to create a policy document on citizen participation. The document is much improved over the original version.  It seems that they took quite seriously the comments that the CEECN passed along in the previous consultations. The team they have assembled to prepare this seems very talented.  But there may be several areas that some of you could yet suggest be modified to improve upon this draft.  (e.g. The final chart should promote a higher degree of
participation.)

As it was discussed in Sofia and Oslo, we kindly invite you to take a part in the Citizens Participation Week 2009 planning and implementation. We are at the very begining of the planning phase, so now you all have the opportunity to influence the mainstream of this international campaign for citizen participation. As you probably know, the CPW will take place between 21-27th of September 2009, where all your relevant (usual or brand new) activities are more than welcome.
